Key takeaways
- The best SEO tools for agencies are priced by keywords or by plan, not by client. Per-client and per-seat pricing is what makes agency bills explode.
- A working stack for a ten client agency is about $150 to $300 a month: a rank tracker with white label, a research tool, and a crawler.
- Zutrix Agency at $89 to $149 covers tracking, reporting, audits, backlinks, and AI visibility for unlimited clients. Add Ahrefs Starter at $29 for deep research.
- Suites like Semrush and SE Ranking replace several tools but charge for seats, projects, or white label. Price them at your real client count.
SEO tools for agencies have one job the tools for solo marketers do not: they have to scale across clients without the bill scaling faster than revenue. Per-client fees, per-seat fees, project caps, and white label add-ons are where that goes wrong. This guide compares the main agency tools by what they cost at 10 and 30 clients, then lays out a stack that covers every job. Prices were checked on September 16, 2026.
We build Zutrix, and its Agency plan is the first tool below. We are biased. So we price every tool the same way and say where a rival is the better choice. If you only need the reporting piece, our white label SEO reports guide covers that alone.
What an agency SEO stack needs
- Rank tracking for every client, daily, by city, with proof you can show.
- White label reports and live links clients can open without a login.
- Keyword research with volumes you trust in your clients' markets.
- A site audit that produces a fix list a developer can act on.
- Backlink monitoring with lost link alerts.
- AI search visibility, because clients now ask "does ChatGPT mention us".
- Pricing that does not punish you for adding a client or a junior.
No single tool is best at all seven. Suites are good at most and expensive at scale. Specialists are cheaper and better at one thing. Most agencies run two or three tools. The mistake is running five that overlap.
The labels blur. SEO software for agencies, agency SEO tools, SEO agency software, white label SEO tools, SEO reporting tools: vendors use all of them for the same products. Ignore the label and ask two questions. Does it price by keyword or by client? And does it include a rank tracker for agencies with white label, or sell that as an add-on?
$20
AgencyAnalytics per client per month, before rank tracking
$45
Semrush per extra user per month
$0
Zutrix cost per additional client project
How we compared the tools
We modelled a typical agency: 150 tracked keywords per client, three team members, white label reports required, and clients added over time. Each tool was priced at 10 clients and at 30 clients on monthly billing, including the add-ons needed for white label and any per-seat or per-client fees. Where a tool caps projects, we used the tier that fits. Prices came from each vendor's page on September 16, 2026.

Live share links mean clients can check rankings any day without asking. Adding a client costs nothing. See the Rank Tracker and white label reporting.
Where others win: Ahrefs and Semrush have much larger keyword and backlink databases for deep research. SE Ranking has a client portal with logins. If your service is research-heavy, pair Zutrix with Ahrefs Starter. Our rank tracking for agencies guide shows the setup.

SE Ranking: pros and cons
Pros
- Complete toolset
- Client portal
- Good cost per keyword at 5,000
Cons
- Project caps
- White label is an annual add-on
- One seat on Core
3. Ahrefs
Ahrefs is the research tool most agencies keep even when they track elsewhere. Site Explorer and Keywords Explorer are the standard for link and keyword work. Standard at $249 gives 20 projects and 2,000 keywords, with seats at $60 each. As a tracker it is expensive. As a research tool, one Starter seat at $29 covers a lot. See Ahrefs pricing.
4. Semrush
Semrush is the broadest suite, with PPC, social, local, and content tools alongside SEO. Agencies that sell paid media and SEO together get the most from it. Pro+ at $299 has 15 projects, Advanced at $549 has 40 and white label. Seats are $45 each. See Semrush pricing and our SE Ranking vs Semrush comparison.
5. AgencyAnalytics
AgencyAnalytics is a reporting layer with 85 plus integrations, priced at $20 per client per month on annual billing plus $41.67 per 500 tracked keywords. It is the right tool for agencies reporting many channels in one dashboard. For SEO-only reporting it costs more than a tracker with white label. See Agency Analytics alternatives.
6. Screaming Frog
Screaming Frog is the crawler technical audits are built on. Free for 500 URLs, about $259 a year for unlimited. Every agency should own a licence. It does not track rankings or produce client-ready reports without work, so it sits beside the tracker, not instead of it.
7. Looker Studio
Looker Studio is free and connects to Search Console, Analytics, and Ads natively, and to rank trackers through connectors. Agencies use it to build custom client dashboards. It costs time rather than money. Our SEO dashboard guide walks through a client template.
