SE Ranking vs Ahrefs is a question about what you run out of first: keyword limits or data depth. Both entry plans cost $129 a month on September 16, 2026. One gives you an agency suite with generous tracking. The other gives you the deepest backlink and keyword data available with tight tracking limits. This comparison covers price, tracking, data, audits, reporting, and who should pick which.
We build Zutrix, which competes with both on rank tracking and agency reporting. We keep our product to one marked section. For the wider field, see our Ahrefs alternatives guide.

Rank tracking
SE Ranking's tracker is the stronger of the two. Daily updates, 2,000 keywords on Core, Google plus Bing, Yahoo, and YouTube, city-level locations, SERP feature tracking, and stored snapshots. Ahrefs Rank Tracker covers 750 keywords on Lite with update frequency tied to plan and fewer options. For anyone who reports rankings weekly, this section decides it.
Backlink data
Ahrefs wins this section without much argument. Its crawler is one of the most active on the web, its index is the largest of any SEO tool, and Domain Rating is the most used authority score after Moz's DA. Site Explorer shows new and lost links faster and in more detail. SE Ranking's backlink checker uses its own index and is fine for monitoring your own sites and a few competitors. It finds fewer links and updates more slowly.
For an agency that reports "links gained this month" to clients, SE Ranking is enough. For a link builder or anyone auditing competitor profiles, Ahrefs. Our referring domains vs backlinks guide explains the number that matters in either.
Keyword research
Ahrefs Keywords Explorer has a much larger database, click estimates, and parent topics. SE Ranking's keyword tool covers major markets well and includes clustering and intent labels. For US and UK head terms both find the same keywords. For long tail and niche markets, Ahrefs finds more. Difficulty scores differ between them and cannot be compared directly.
Site audit and content tools
Both have full site audits. SE Ranking's is easier for a client to read. Ahrefs' is more detailed and free in Webmaster Tools for sites you own. SE Ranking includes a content editor with AI drafting on credits. Ahrefs has an AI Content Helper on some plans. For agencies writing client content, SE Ranking's bundle is the better deal.
Interface and learning curve
Ahrefs is faster and cleaner. Most reports are two clicks from the dashboard and load quickly, and its free training on YouTube is excellent. SE Ranking has more tools, so it has more menus, but the layout is logical and the client-facing views are tidier. New users find their way around SE Ranking in a couple of days and Ahrefs in an afternoon, then spend a week learning what the Ahrefs data means.
Support is comparable. Both offer chat and email, and both have large help centers. SE Ranking's onboarding calls for agencies are a small edge if your team is new to the tool.
Reporting and white label
SE Ranking's Agency Pack adds white label reports, a client portal with logins, and unlimited scheduled reports for $69 a month on annual billing. Ahrefs has no white label at all. Its reports are exports and shared dashboards with Ahrefs branding. If clients see your reports, this is a large gap. Our white label SEO reports guide covers the options.
