Key takeaways
- Surfer SEO pricing in November 2026 has five public plans: Discovery at $49, Standard at $99, Pro at $182, Peace of Mind at $299, and AI Search Analytics at $82 a month, all billed yearly.
- Monthly billing costs more. From the yearly saving Surfer shows, Discovery works out to $59 a month, Standard to $119, Pro to $219, and Peace of Mind to $359.
- Plans are capped by documents, not words: 120 on Discovery, 360 on Standard and Pro. Surfer says credits reset yearly or when you change plans.
- Surfer is a content tool. It does not track your Google rankings for keywords, so most teams pay for a rank tracker on top.
Surfer SEO pricing changed more than once in the last two years, and old numbers still float around review sites. This guide lists every plan on the Surfer pricing page as of November 1, 2026. It covers what each plan includes, what monthly billing really costs, and how to tell if Surfer is worth it for the amount you publish. Prices are in US dollars.
We build Zutrix, an SEO platform with its own content editor, so we compete with Surfer on part of its job. We say that up front. The Surfer numbers come straight from its pricing page, and our own pricing sits in one marked section. For other editors, see our list of Surfer SEO alternatives.

The Surfer SEO plans differ mostly in documents, seats, and AI tracking. Discovery is the plan Surfer pitches for testing. Standard is where most writers and small teams land, because it triples the document count and adds three seats. Pro keeps the same documents and adds daily AI prompt tracking and more brand workspaces. Peace of Mind removes the document cap under a fair use policy. Surfer AI Search Analytics is a separate plan for AI visibility only, with no content editing.

What each Surfer plan includes
Discovery, $49 a month billed yearly
One seat, one brand workspace, and 120 documents to create or optimize. It includes Surfy, the AI SEO assistant, and the humanizer. It tracks 10 pages but no AI prompts. If you publish about ten articles a month, 120 documents covers a year. If you also refresh old posts, each refresh uses a document too.
Standard, $99 a month billed yearly
Three seats, 360 documents, 50 tracked pages, and 25 AI prompts checked weekly. This is the plan for a small content team or a freelancer with a few clients. The jump from Discovery is mostly documents and seats.
Pro, $182 a month billed yearly
Five seats, five brand workspaces, 200 tracked pages, and 50 AI prompts checked daily. The document count stays at 360. You pay for Pro when you need more brands or daily AI tracking, not when you need more articles.
Peace of Mind, $299 a month billed yearly
Ten seats, unlimited brand workspaces, 500 tracked pages, 100 daily AI prompts, and unlimited documents under a fair use policy. It suits agencies and publishers that produce content every day.
AI Search Analytics, $82 a month billed yearly
A plan for tracking how AI answers mention your brand. It covers 50 prompts checked daily, five seats, and five brand workspaces. The plan card lists no content features, so writers still need one of the plans above.
Monthly vs yearly billing
The Surfer SEO price you pay depends on the billing cycle. The pricing page shows yearly prices first. Each card also shows how much the yearly plan saves. On Discovery the saving is $120 a year, which puts monthly billing at about $59 a month. On Standard it is $240 a year, so about $119 a month. Pro saves $444 a year and Peace of Mind saves $720. Surfer describes the yearly discount as up to 17 percent.
Yearly plans are charged up front for the whole year. Surfer accepts cards on both cycles and bank transfer on yearly plans only. It does not take PayPal. If you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.
Is there a Surfer SEO free trial?
Every plan card has a "Start for Free" button, but the pricing page does not list a free plan or trial terms. It also does not mention a money-back guarantee. Check the checkout page for the current offer before you count on a free week. The Surfer Discovery plan is the one Surfer suggests for testing, so plan your trial around 120 documents and one seat.
- Write a test brief for one live article and one new one before you pay for a year.
- Compare the term list with what already ranks for that keyword in a free SERP checker.
- Time the editor on your longest draft to see how it handles your real work.
- Count your output: posts plus refreshes per month, times twelve.
Is Surfer SEO worth it?
For teams that publish often and want a content score in the editor, yes. Surfer is quick to learn and the guidelines are clear. It is weaker as a full SEO tool. It optimizes one page at a time and does not track keyword rankings, backlinks, or site health. Most Surfer users pay for at least one more tool to see whether the page they optimized ranks.
- You publish or refresh at least eight articles a month.
- Several writers need the same guidelines and content score.
- You already pay for rank tracking somewhere else.
- Daily AI prompt tracking matters to you or your clients.
- You can commit to a full year to get the lower price.
Three or more ticks and Surfer is a fair buy at Standard. One or two ticks and you are paying for capacity you will not use. Our guide on how to write SEO content shows the process any editor should support.
What Surfer SEO costs for real teams
| Team | Surfer plan | Surfer per year | Plus a rank tracker? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solo blogger, 8 posts a month | Discovery | $588 | Yes, for rankings |
| Freelancer, 3 clients | Standard | $1,188 | Yes, for client reports |
| Content team, 5 writers | Pro | $2,184 | Yes, for rankings |
| Agency, daily publishing | Peace of Mind | $3,588 | Yes, for client reports |
The last column is the cost most buyers forget. A content score tells you a page covers the topic. It does not tell you where the page ranks next month. Budget for that before you compare Surfer SEO cost with a suite that does both.
How to pay less for Surfer
- 1
Start on Discovery
Count how many documents you use in the first two months before you move up.
- 2
Pay yearly only when sure
Yearly billing saves up to 17 percent, but you pay the whole year up front.
- 3
Skip AI tracking you do not need
Pro and Peace of Mind cost more mostly for prompts and workspaces. Writers rarely need them.
- 4
Share seats with care
Standard has three seats. Give them to the people who edit, not everyone who reads a brief.
- 5
Track rankings in one place
Use one tool for rankings and reports so you do not pay twice for the same data.
- +Count refreshes as documents when you size a plan.
- +Test the editor on your longest article before buying a year.
- +Check the current checkout offer for trial terms.
- xAssume the document count is monthly.
- xBuy Pro for documents. It has the same 360 as Standard.
- xTreat a content score of 100 as the goal.
